No Access to Necessity
Imagine that. A large number of people can die or do not have access to a basic necessity, which we take for granted. A basic necessity you and I likely have within 30 seconds of where are at.
A basic necessity.
But just because it isn’t happening here, doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.
According to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals Report, 129 countries are not even on track to have sustainably managed water resources by 2030.
Contaminated Water
Take water-scarce, remote areas in Pakistan as an example.
Research suggests that by 2025, the country will reach extreme water shortages. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) also predicts that Pakistan will be one of the most water-stressed countries.
This is along with the fact that in present-day, only 1 in 5 people have access to clean drinking water. Nearly 80% of people are forced to rely on water that has been contaminated with a mixture of sewage and pesticides.
The water crisis is, indeed, ticking. To fight the water crisis faced by the vulnerable masses, a permanent and sustainable solution is always required.
Paani Project
Here is where the Paani (trans. Water) Project steps in.
Founded in 2017, Paani is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that works with community partners and institutions in the US and Pakistan to drive sustainable, evidence-based interventions that primarily focus on alleviating clean water inaccessibility.
Since the first well was built in 2018, Paani has progressed exponentially with 6,700 tube and deep water wells.
With $2 million in donations so far, they have successfully provided 2.5 million meals as part of orphan, flood, and famine relief projects.
SIO x Paani: The Philosophy

One of our key social responsibility initiatives is to facilitate the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
But, why did we partner with Paani Project? The answer is philosophy.
SIO Logistics and Paani mutually share the philosophy behind our missions: Transparency and Sustainable Solutions.
Through the Paani Project, SIO donated 10 tube wells to villages and families with no or limited clean water access. The hand pumps were installed on the bore with a depth of 40 to 50 feet and were handed over after thorough testing.
On average, these wells will help 500 people with water, sanitation, and hygiene.

This was only made possible with the support of our employees, shipping, and trucking partners. The trust that is put in us every day by our customers and carriers, was matched both in spirit – and in the donation.
However, this does not stop here. We are committed to our Vision: Road to 100. We aim to achieve our goal for 2022 and build 100 wells for vulnerable families in need.
